Brighten Your Home With Outdoor Garden Lighting
Like all new home owners, we were eager to move in. We thought that we had taken every detail into consideration. We closed on the home and moved in the following weekend. We had finished moving everything in and set up what we needed for the night. I looked out at the long dark driveway and realized that we did not have any outdoor garden lighting to illuminate the area. Yes, something was missing. Outdoor Garden Lighting Can Fit Into Many Places My husband and I noted that it was unsafe to have no lighting in yard so close to the house. We decided to be creative about the issue. We decided to illuminate our walkway with outdoor garden lighting instead of standard outdoor units. Outdoor garden lights are dimmer and they boast a golden glow. In addition, We began by building a pond with a small rock ledge. We then put outdoor garden lighting around the pond. We then planted several small shrubs and annual flowers throughout the area. We put more garden lights under the taller plants. The lights softly illuminated the plants. We put two three foot statutes of horses with riders at the front edge of the walkway. The riders on the horses were holding lanterns. We ran some wire up through the bottom of the lanterns and installed our own outdoor garden lighting so they would make the lanterns glow and light up the entry from the main road. Is Solar Lighting Appropriate? We quickly discovered that solar lights are not a good idea to use to actually light up your walkway in all regions. We decided to go with electric outdoor garden lighting instead. We ended up needing 67 lights in the area and that high number would inevitably lead to a very high electric bill. We decided to compromise. We focused on the lights that were closer to the walkway first. These needed to be brighter so we opted for electric versions. The solar lights were arranged further away from the home. Working on the overall cost, we discovered that the initial cost for the outdoor garden lighting was affordable. The price difference between solar and electric outdoor garden lights was surprisingly minimal. We used a few electric lights at the back of the yard. This added security. The solar lights were a perfect accent to the yard. The solar outdoor garden lighting did come in handy if the electricity went out or if we forgot to turn on the electric garden lights. We were both satisfied that with a little time and hard work we were able to create our own original walkway with a few plants a few statues and some great outdoor garden lighting.
